Digital Ecology Lab – FAQ

WHEN IS THE Digital Ecology Lab?

The dates for the Lab are Monday March 2nd – June 8th 2020

Lab Participants will be provided with a $500- Fee for participating in the Lab

The Lab location is at the Old City Library 81-83 Katoomba St, Katoomba.

The Lab is open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm.

The Program Schedule outlines the key sessions. Outside of these sessions the lab is open for creative collaboration and digital studio practice.

Wifi is available to all participants

Participants must be able to provide their own lap-top for use during the program.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY? 

This opportunity is for Western Sydney artists and creative practitioners. While you may not regularly earn income from your practice, you must be identified and recognised by your peers as a practicing artist or arts worker. 

The opportunity is open to artists and creative practitioners working in the visual arts, design, architecture, fashion, digital media, installation, community arts, live art, performance and other creative pursuits. 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, artists with disability and artists of linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. 

CAN I APPLY AS A COLLECTIVE OR GROUP?

We can only accommodate a limited amount of participants in the Lab. We recommend that you apply as an individual and list that you are part of a collective or group. 

DO I HAVE TO PROPOSE AN ARTWORK?

No, you are not expected to apply to the Lab with an artwork proposal. The purpose of the Lab is to support artists in developing strong and well-resolved project ideas and concepts that respond to a variety of sites, audiences, conditions and economies.

The Project is brought to you by Toolo, the Blue Mountains Tool Library, an artist run initiative to supply resources and equipment to the community, with a focus on supporting the Creative Industries.

HOW WILL MY APPLICATION BE ASSESSED? 

Your application will be assessed against the following selection criteria

  • Eligibility criteria
  • Artistic calibre (primarily assessed on the basis of examples of previous work and artist CV).
  • Potential to participate in consultative and collaborative situations.
  • Assessments of applications and decisions are made primarily on the basis of the information supplied by you in your application and accompanying support material.  The applications are assessed by the Toolo Board of Directors. 

WHEN WILL THE SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPANTS BE ANNOUNCED?

Successful third round Lab participants for 2020 will be announced on February 14th 2020 via email.
